Dr. Michael Angell, B.M. - Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, D.M.A. - The University of Michigan, is Associate Professor of Music and teaches courses in music technology, theory, and composition. He also serves as Associate Chair of the UAB Department of Music and Director of the UAB Computer Music Ensemble. Dr. Angell is the founder and served as initial president of the Birmingham Art Music Alliance, which presents concerts of new music throughout the Birmingham metropolitan area. He is also on the board of directors of the Artburst Concert Series of Birmingham. He has written works in a wide range of genres, including symphony orchestra and various chamber ensembles. Many of his compositions involve computer and other electronic media. Dr. Angell has received premiere performances by notable groups such as the American Brass Quintet.
